Many children in my home area, Kampala, Uganda, have many needs. There are drugs, abuse, street children; young girls who prostitute, rape, domestic violence overwhelm my area. Poverty is the main problem of my country and Africa at large.
Many things seem not to work, like the ability to go to school. I failed to continue my higher education, and then realized that things don't happen the way we want them to.
When seated on our mother's lap when we are young, we don't know how hard the road is ahead of us. I thought, let me struggle with my young adulthood and then things will be alright.
Oh, it was a lie, the road ended and it was darker than I could have imagined. There was a problem of no work, no money, the problem would not go away, no light on the other side of the road. But something told me to keep hoping. It is a miracle that I decided to check out another direction, go back to school, it was still dark and difficult but there was some kind of light. The light is real. It is unbelievable someone on this side of the world had a big big big heart. I have cried. My hope has been restored. My soul is crying out in happiness.
Every time I think about Connect Africa I end up with tears because I always think of how I can pay back the love to me by people who do not even know me and have contributed to this organization to help people in my country. Thank you thank you thank you, these words only portray 1% that I feel. Connect Africa you gave me a chance to live, gave me meaning in my life and I only hope and wish that I will give back to people as you have given to me.
